I don't think you can do better than these for $1.99

knit gloves with latex coating where it matters. You just throw them in the washer & dryer with other laundry to clean/

I have used these. They work well and are versatile, you could pull meat from the pit or pull pork because you still have your dexterity. The only problem I've found is, say my hands are all covered in sticky sauce, then I need to take them off, they get all farked up and sticky around the wrist area from grabbing the edge to remove them. So I would recommend having more than one pair handy. Then wash them later.

My preferred gloves now are Big Jake's, I like the shorter style with the split side so they are easy to take on and off. And also the cotton liners under nitrile gloves for pulling meat.

I think the OP's problem is that he wants one pair of gloves that last forever. Nothing is going to do that. I buy welding gloves at local welding supply stores (a fraction of the price at box hardware stores) and do the nitrile over cotton thing too. - SPB

Weldling or leather gloves for handling fire, the knit glove with latex on top for pulling/handling meat. Towels work too for meat transfer.

+1 for this, so long as the towels aren't too cheap, some shed as much as a polar bear in the desert. I sometimes use the black knight gloves (shown in other replies) but also don't have a way to dry the insulated inside. Maybe someone posted a solution later on the thread, haven't read that far yet. I don't have kids, but is there some sort of bottle warmer??

Another +1

With two caveats...

First, their recommendation has changed. Two years ago, their advice was to NOT let the inside get wet (drying problems; mold; mildew). Now???

Second, I can't speak to the gloves he is currently shipping (I bought mine over 2 years ago), but I had to leave mine in the garage until they got broken in. What was that song? Oh, yeah...

I had the same problem with the Raichlen gloves, went through a few pairs, but never liked how hard they were to work with after just a few uses. I had switched to the cotton glove/nitrile glove method for pulling/slicing, etc, and for Christmas my wife got me the double insulated gloves from Big Poppa. I really like them so far, but I still prefer the better dexterity and feel of the cotton/nitrile for working with the finished product. But I can do anything else I need to with those Big Poppa gloves. Move grates, meat, etc.

Lots of options, I have the heavy rubber insulated gloves ( just don't care for them) If I need dexterity I use the cotton gloves/latex glove. For out at the smoker I use regular oven mitts from GFS ( only easy place that I find XL) Very easy on/off, can handle the hot grates and meat with in reason, throw into the wash/dryer when real dirty. When they get bad, I just get another pair. They protect your fore arms real well, better than my welding gloves as they are a tad longer.

I have some OveGloves, not really a fan. One size fits all means all but me. They feel huge and awkward. Bought some welders gloves for moving hot metal, but don't really plan to use those on food. Read a review of Weber's Grill Gloves and ordered a pair. So far I am happy with them. And they are machine washable...

I thought he was looking for food handling type gloves, these are more like oven mitts, correct?

I can't remember where I read the review for them, but it said they were food safe if kept clean. I used them for Christmas to remove my turkey from the smoker. Washed / dried them when I was done. I don't see any loose fibers or lint that might fall off and stick to the food, but that might be something to watch for...

I have these and to be honest I got giant paws. I thought they where too tight, and the owner offered to refund my money, keep the gloves. I didn't take his money because I figured I would give them to my son. However.... after using these for a year for handling meat and moving the shelves, I love these. They have loosened up some after a few washings in the dishwasher, my hands have never gotten hot. Slip them off and stick in the dishwasher, put away until next time.
