I've had my set of Texas BBQ gloves for about 6-7 years now and no issues at all. I'd get another set when these fail me but it doesn't look like it'll happen anytime soon unless I'm not careful with a knife.

Like other guys have mentioned...nitrile gloves over wool gloves. WAY more dexterity and tactile feel!

Any of you that have these gloves happen to have really big hands? Trying to gauge how well they will fit my hands.

They might be a problem if you have really small hands. I'm 6'2" and have Decent sized hands. They fit me comfortably and I still have a little wiggle room inside.

I use Ove gloves and love them

I've got a pair of those too, but stopped using them when I discovered that you do not pick up something that's screaming hot when the gloves are wet. My hands got a severe steam bath..:heh:

I use welders gloves for the firebox end bye the way..

I use welding gloves when dealing with chacoal baskets and hot cooking grates.

For handling hunks of piping hot meat, pulling/slicing meats

You have great finger/hand dexterity since they will not harden. They also don't get super slippery/slick when fat or grease get on them. You are able to actually able to control what you hold. Best part is, not a lot of clean up, just peel the nitrile glove off and throw it away. If the wool gloves get dirty, throw it in the wash.

They look great, the thing that throws me is that in the text they say you can "use them several times". This makes them sound like disposable gloves. Is this a typo?

I use mine heavily during the competition season and they last about a year before the finger get very stiff. If you just use them occasionally at home they will last a long time.

I'll bet they meant "wash them several times" (due to the inner liner). Thanks.

I keep the inside of mine clean. I put them on and wash them under hot water in the sink, with dish detergent. Like washing your hands.

That's what I do. Do NOT get the liner wet. Some friends helped us clean up after a competition and submerged the gloves to clean them. I didn't know about it and when I went to put them on the next week my hands were coated in black mold!

I do this for pulling pork or handling ribs or brisket while slicing, but it's a pain to put these on and off for moving meats around one the cooker, foiling, etc. so that's why I use the Texas BBQ gloves above.

The gloves at TX bbq rub are $12 and under their $13 online minimum. You need to purchase something in addition to get the order to proceed. I ordered the gloves and a small bottle of rub.

Get a second pair of gloves or some Rub or something. Their rubs (really good bye the waya) are pretty much all I use, except for a couple of my own..

I agree with Peeps and aawa with the above gloves when handling hot food for serving.

When moving food in the smoker or from I use these.. I have two pair, one for me and one for my helper..
Neoprene Insulated Gloves

Care must be used not to get the inside wet, and I wash them while wearing them with mild soapy water as if I am washing my hands.

This is my third year and although they do not need to be replaced I will probably buy two new pairs this summer just to have replacement pairs on hand..

And for dealing with the firebox and moving dry shelves, I use a pair of extra long welding gloves.

I have always used a knit glove under a nitrile for meat transfer and leather gloves for the firebox. Glad to see there are more/possibly better options though.

+1 for this. The good thing is that you can get whatever sizes you need to fit comforably in both the cotton and the nitrile. I get mine from Harbor Freight but I'm not sure they have really big sizes. Might have to hit up amazon.

I have found these are the best deal in town. A set of 12 pairs is less than $50. I love them

Those are exactly the same as the TBBR gloves. Same part number too, except no R on it. These being smooth i think the R means rough in the hand area. Now you have to buy 12 of them, but that works out to be under $5 a pair and free shipping. If you could get a few fellow Q'ers that wanted them too, that would be the best deal of all.

Myron Mixon and his team at his bbq school use cotton gloves from Harbor
Freight covered by latex gloves. Cheap and disposable.
