Simply awesome, both the cook and the continuing commitment to our vets. Good on all y'all!

And a special shout out to Paul and Tyler Shirley for donating a pit for y'all to use on these cooks.

One of these days I'd love to come up and help out for a cook just to feel the love first hand.

The shirley fab pit donated by TuscaloosaQ

Rich, aka Mad Hunky, braved the rain and brought down his lang to help with the chicken. He also donated the rub for it.

Heres brian accepting honors from the mvf on behalf of the que team. I felt slightly embarrassed as it was us who was honoring them.

Nice guys! Lousy weather but you made it work. Too bad mother nature didn't cooperate for you.

I should see if I can ever organize something down here....unfortunately I don't have a big offset

We missed ya Paul!
Well the weather was supposed to be heavy storms at night ending early morning. But that did not happen. After midnight we hand almost constant drizzle, then early morning ( before dawn) the storms came. Canopies blown over, just about everything getting wet. They even moved all the stand down ( except the cook) inside cramped quarters. Around 10am the storms went away and we still had some wind. Dave luckily brought some HD canopies as those were the only ones not to blow over. No where was dry. But the MVF was able to bring some of the supplies for the vets back out side, Clothes, shoes, bath supplies etc.
It is great being able to do this for the Vets. But also great for us to be able to get together and apply our hobby together helping others. I final got some sleep and am still beat. Here is a few shots I was able to get.
None of the off set smokers seemed to care much about the down pours. I know we went thru a lot of wood!

Great pics guys!!

We had an awesome time cooking and BS'n all night in the rain.
This event is just a great time for everyone. These Vets are so appreciative of the cooking we do for them and to see their faces lite up makes the long hours worth it.

The pits were running solid for about 17+ hours and as Tom said the rain didn't slow us/them down any. Well some of us that is :pound:

Lil Joe was even up and going for a good part of the night :thumb:

Thanks for including me in this cook. I really enjoyed it! The rain was a challenge but OVERCAME! :D As you know, Mad Hunky Meats is always willing to help out as can for these events. See you next year :{)

Oh I DID get one pict :D
