Customer Appreciation Event

Patrick's BBQ

Guest
Guys,

Im hosting the 2nd Annual Patrick's BBQ Customer Event. This posting is to accomplish 2 things.

1. Do any of y'all do this? I have found that it's a good reminder for my customers that Im still here and give new cusotmers an opportunity to take the Pepsi challange with my BBQ. It costs me about $800.00 to put on so I pout out a pickle jar for donations and I usually break even.

What are your thoughts here?

I am also thinking of advertising this to offices and other small corperate venues to see if they are interested in making this their "Corperate Party" I'll charge them a specific ammount per head ($15 - $20) and they can have their own area to hang out in but still get the benifit of the gorup setting and they can network / meet new people.

2. I'd like to invite the Brethren to come on out. It's really going to be a good time and the food will be slightly better that sucky.

The Menu:

20 Pork Butts
15 Pork Ribs (Racks)
12 Chickens
2 Briskets
20lb each of Tater Salad, Cole Slaw and Baked Beans
70lb Crawfish Boil

I am expecting about 150 people to show but there may be more. If you wana come on out, go to my web site, give me a call and I'll give you directions.

Please let me know what y'all think...

I already let you know I'll be there... someday, though, I'm going to have to have you try MY barbecue instead of the other way around.

i can't make that gig, but i'd really like to...

Hey Pat. Nice web page. Do you carry that smoker inside of that trailer? Is there like a kitchen inside that trailer? That looks like a great set up.

smokinvic, No the cooker is its own trailer and the other was stolen last year. It had:

one enclosed sheetpan rack
one electric warmer
2 Arctic air refer untis
all kinds of shelving and storage
one 10,000watt generator

The new trailer (Still a work in progress)

2 electric warmers
full sized commercial sink
hand sink
fresh and gray water tanks
inline water heater
2 door true refer unit
shelving
two 10,000 watt generators

Rarely do I need both at an event but when I do its usually very cost effective to bring both.

I still have alot of work to do on the new trailer but it will be nice when she is finished.

I still need to get Health food certified so Im kinda operating under the radar...

This isn't under the radar... it's a party. You can do what you want.

If you put A/C in that, I'm going to convince you to bring it to my summer comps!

So on the cooker, do you have any sinks on there as well? Those are needed also, when catering, right?

"stolen? from where? " - Over by Cyote Canion off of Factory Rd. I keep them all over at Phiulips Concrete on 35 now. (Video Survailence and Key Card Swipe to access. only $30.00 a month...

"So on the cooker, do you have any sinks on there as well? Those are needed also, when catering, right?" - Yes there is a sink on this unit. Its not really used though. I have a water hose hook up but its really wasted space. I wish that I could take it off and make room for a larger grill or more sotrage. Baybe just additional work surface. Th sink has never been used and Is just not as practical as one might think.

"If you put A/C in that, I'm going to convince you to bring it to my summer comps! - No A/C bit there is a fan that draws all of the hot air out of the top of the unit. My old trailer was 6 X 12 and a little over 6ft tall. My new unit is 7 x 16 and over 8fy tall. MUCH more head room, plus I had 3/4 inch treated plywood added to the walls and floor and that was covered with ATP (Diamon Plating) Its killer... If its too sunny you will burn your retna's out... For my old trailer I bought all the stuff to do spray in bed liner and I coated it from floor to ceiling. it really was nice... This one though, my new one... It outa controll.

Guys,

I am also thinking of advertising this to offices and other small corperate venues to see if they are interested in making this their "Corperate Party" I'll charge them a specific ammount per head ($15 - $20) and they can have their own area to hang out in but still get the benifit of the gorup setting and they can network / meet new people.

I think this idea might come back and bite you in the butt. When a company gets there and see's you're feeding people for free, what do you think they are going to think about paying $15+ a head? Hard to see someone not getting P'd off.

Host 2 events and rob Peter (profits from company parties) to pay Paul (customer appreciation event) rather then trying to break even and host them together.

the sponsorship would be for a reserved spot, and guaranteed food... but I can see your point, too.

But if the companies are put on a banner as the sponsors, then it works!

Pros are, for Pat:
Get money for the event to control costs
Cons for Pat:
hmmmmmmm....

Pros for sponsors:
Get advertising
Have a party
Cons:
Have to pay

Pros for others:
Get great food
Cons:
not get into reserved areas (big deal).

Well here is the deal. They will pay befor tehy get there. So no one will be the wiser. Plus the paying folks will have their own Private area to hang out in.

I see Curts point.

I dont think about them being sponsors either, they are paying customers. The rest of the folks are geting the same food but there may be another small group of another customer in another area. Kina like a socialist corperate party. Everyone pays the same (Except my frineds and the y eat free) everyone gets their own little area to call their own even though I own it and everyone gets the same service and at the end of the day I have really only done one event. Its kinda cool really. Im really liking this...

Sorry, I just view this as I appreciate my personal customers' business, but in order for me to show you my appreciation, I'm going to charge my business customers to pay for it.

With many businesses looking for ways to cut costs right now, I just think this opens the window for a business to go out of their way to make sure they don't do business with you again.

Just food for thought.

Good Point!!

Man, that is a great point KC Bobby! I didnt thinlk of it that way. Good stuff. It's still in the "Humm this might be a good idea phase". As this unrolls I'll defenatly condiser that point. I want to make it easier to do business with me, not more difficult.

Good stuff.....

Thanks again....

Guys, a few of you are going to be there, if anyone else wants to go PM me and I'll give you the info...

Maybe you could call it a charity event...

I've always had the thought of inviting a charity group in to help with the grunt work. After costs are covered all the remaining proceeds go to the charity. Invite the local media to cover the event and that way you can use the event to get the word out.
