Finally got up to Riggins Id to do a little fishing. Ended up with a 33 1/2 steelhead. Just finished cooking it up on the BDS, and it was very tasty..

Good eye thirdeye. It was a male and was a hatchery fish or I would have released it.

Nice fish. What did you do in terms of the cooking? Rub, marinade, nekkid?

I put it in a brine for about 8 hours and then smoked it for about 1 1/2 hours on the smaller pieces and 2 hours for the larger one. I used a piece of apricot for smoke since I couldn't find any alder.

definitely a male in full fertilizing colors. I caught a beauty just like him years back on an egg pattern that was released to live another day. Did you catch him in the bushes or is the water in front of you?

That is a very nice fish and the smoke turned out well. Must have been a great day.
