What are the best places to look for probes and such. I am almost ready to start cooking and I need some probes and other gear.

Any houseware store that is local to you should carry probes and other cooking gear. Try Bed Bath & Beyond or online stores. Hope this helps.

Yes it does..I didn't know if most here got them from a good website or just local places.

might I suggest a thermopen from Thermoworks.com

HAHA..that is first on my list! I also want/need a probe for the correct temp of the smoker on the cooking grate as well as meat probes that I can plug into the meat and watch the temp as I smoke!

well, depending on the smoker you can get a guru or stoker. You can also get a Maverick E-73 I believe it is.

I use nu-temps and the mavericks are good too from what I hear. Only thing I dont like about my nu-temps is the range of the remote. It says it will go 100ft but I cannot much over 50ft and if there is a wall between it is even worse. However they are accurate for pit and meat temps if you dont need to use the remote display away from the cooker.

I have used the kitchen store that Les mentioned, Amazon, and these two for random stuff.
