OK, just got my confirmation... 8-Ball is in! Can't wait to see everybody.

The hotel next to the Blue Moon is a Red Roof it's on Rt 299 and bit of a hole,

a little further out of town is an Econolodge, also on Rt 299 quality is unknown,

and if you would take Rt 299 all the way to the intersection with Rt 9W (6 miles east of I-87), there is a Super 8 that is about 4 yrs old and worlds better cleaner/quieter and likely a few bucks less...

Super 8 Highland NY
3423 Route 9 West I 87 Exit
Highland, NY 12528

If you need to get through town on the weekend from the fairgrounds it can be almost 25 minutes back to the thruway same as coming from the thruway to the fairgrounds. Sometimes it is more. (all you long islanders and Jersey people going for "a ride in the country" )

Question about the grilling contest. Does open garnish mean that you can have your servings in individual portion cups and they can eat it with forks or spoons? I cant find the rules on the NEBS website. THX

Looking at their rules... OPEN Garnish and
stuffing is allowed....

I think that it means that if it edible you can put it on top or in the container...but it still needs to be put in the requisite container...I don't think you can put in cups etc.. which are not edible...

I think that fingers are the utensils...

INMHO...

I believe that yes you can do that but if I remember correctly, you need to supply the utensils and you don't normally get the cups back

From the NEBS Grilling Rules:

OPEN GARNISH – Anything goes. Chefs Choice or Dessert must use Open
Garnish. Stuffing, wrapping, skewers, and decorations of any kind
edible or not are allowed. Any size chunks or ingredients can be used.
Cooks should remember the judges will be instructed to evaluate how
well the cook has represented the contest category. Excessive garnish
or additional ingredients, that cover or hide the appearance and/or
taste of the defined category, may result in a lower score

Anything edible or not is allowed. I used little cups and utensils at NH this year and got it all back.
