My CS whole hog has gotten to 650 degrees and the reason for no chimney, they have 2 inch holes on the back underneath the hinge for the door that provides airflow. I love my CS and would not trade it far one of those cheap tragers for anything
 
There is no comparrison in flavor. 100% hardwood vs charcoal, I will take the wood...I wont even dignify a response for the gas...:p

I'll agree with that.
