Is BBQ regional, or is it the Sauces/Rubs/Sides/Woods that are?

Our Smokey Bones here in Shreveport closed down and it had only been here maybe a year. Q was decent and prices weren't bad. But when you've got the Country Tavern to compete with it's tough to get your niche. Country Tavern has been on the Food Channel numerous times and just about always gets raves reviews. The original Country Tavern is in Texas. In Shreveport Country Tavern is king.
