Did anybody else catch the Paula Dean show where she deep fried a whole fresh ham? It certainly looked intriguing. She brined the ham for 24 hours and then fried it up in a turkey fryer at 7 1/2 minutes per pound. If I can get a second mortgage or a government grant for some oil, I may give it a try.

I've had deep fried prime rib at some of the oilfield company parties, it's very good. They use the standard turkey fry set-up, but did mention that the beef fat and all the spices packed on took a toll on the oil. I got the recipe but have never tried it myself.

We had to deep fry a spiral cut ham for thanksgiving....the person responsible for bringing the ham thought it was "heat for 15 min"...and didnt realize it was "heat for 15 min PER POUND!!" Until 20 minutes before dinner.....Since we had the turkeys coming out of the deep fryer, we tossed in the ham for about 11 minutes and it was done. It was pretty dang good. Nice and crusty all around and super fast.
