BBQ gear from E-Bay merchant

I may have misunderstood the original point. What a bidder has on their monitor due to their browser settings is meaningless to me. If I'm writing code to accomplish the task described I'm only concerned with the data I can gather, operating my shill accounts, and processing data. My app would scrape various auctions for bids, bid history, account name, and process it. A basic analysis would more than likely yield some insightful info as to bid trends from a user, especially in comparison to other bidders. Time, ammount, amount of increase, average diff. from high and low bids, etc...

Manipulating bidding through shill accounts would be a piece of cake, and easily automated with some really basic scripts. Doing it over time, would require some extra effort to avoid detection however.

Thanks for the brain candy!

NP.

You like Frank Zappa, and you're a programmer... you're all right dude!

UPDATE:

Went to the door, and saw a package...it was my 1963 Veg-O-Matic.

HURRAH... I wasn't ripped off.

By the way, the one I bid on seems to have reappeared (looks the same to me), along with 28 other VOM's no one seems to want (3 bids for a whopping total of $14.95)

Gee, where are all of those people who were bidding 2 -3 times more (nearly $50 w/shipping) for the one I wanted?

It's almost like they never existed. ;)

I think that can happen at times...and sometimes people get caught up
in bidding; and bid more than something is worth...then they just don't
pay ....so the item goes back for auction.

One time I was selling an Electric knife...two or three people got into a
bidding war on it....and I ended up selling it for about $10 more than I
had paid for it brand new at Bed Bath & Beyond a couple of months earlier.

Another time I was selling my old Cell Phone...It was in perfect condition
not a scratch on it or anything...I included all original accessories and
owners manual along with extra batteries and chargers I had for it.

The guy that bought it was an idiot...he couldn't figure it out; so he took
it to a Cell Phone store. They told him it was broken and he had been
ripped off...and sold him a new phone for $400.

He complained to E-bay ....so I told him I would refund his money if he
returned it to me undamaged...in the same condition I sent it to him.
He did...I thoroughly checked it out; and refunded his money....then
resold it on E-bay to a grateful lady that got a great deal on it.

Most sellers are probably honest...but; actually you can get ripped off
anywhere...we all probably have at some time or another.

Don't spend more than you are willing to lose...if something goes wrong.
The same as lending money to a friend...don't do it unless you're OK
knowing that you may not ever get it back.
