I have a couple of questions for you Mak 1 Star General Owners

1. Would you advise going with the 3/4 or full rack on top? Does the full size second shelf still allow easy access to your food underneath or is it a pain?

2. Anyone use the wifi module?
I have a 2Star and I just got the 3/4 rack. I have not used it yet as it just came last week. My plan for it is to cook on the top rack and put a catch pan underneath. The flame zone is not fun at all to clean. But I do have to say that I have made some fantastic food. Cheese burgers are incredible off the flame zone. They did tell me the 3/4 is the most popular rack if that helps. I did not get the wifi because of the price tag, but I would still like to add it down the road.

Well looks like I'm joining the pellet pooper family. Just ordered my Mak 1 Star General! Now why isn't it here already.

I see that you are in CA. MAK is in Oregon. It’ll be here before you know it. I’m guessing 3 days.

traeger tailgater on clearance

you boys are serious about your pellet grills. I thought they were cool but never figured I would find an entry level cooker to get my feet wet at a price point I could live with.

well I spotted a traeger discounted to $175 at home depot and couldn't resist. the tag was mislabeled so I managed 80 lbs of pellets for free to make up the difference.

the tailgater elite ($450 msrp) I believe. I have surgery next month and at worst can use it during recovery and sell later for what I paid.

first cook was ribs with the dreaded traeger hickory pellets. I like a light clean smoke on ribs and found these perfect

I did comp style chicken thighs next and was again impressed.

tonight I tried cooking a tri tip beef roast, potatoes and corn on the cob. it was good but this pellet cooker doesn't sear well so next time for a roast I'll go low on the pellet and sear on the kettle

bruno doesn't care for the traeger

Awesome and congrats!!! What options did you decide on?
I ended up starting with the bottom shelf, side shelf and the full upper grate. I plan on adding the front shelf eventually, but I would rather spend that money on some grill grates for now...I also ended up buying an after market cover instead of the official Mak one
