The City of New London and The Downtown New London Association are proud to announce The 2nd Annual Best Backyard BBQ Chef Competition, where backyard barbeque and grilling enthusiasts throughout the country are welcomed to compete to become the Connecticut State Champion.

The 2nd Annual Best Backyard BBQ Chef Competition will take place on October 14 & 15 at the New London Waterfront Park.

This event is proud to announce that it will be hosting the state of Connecticut's Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) state championship.

It is an honor to host this sanctioned state championship in New London!
This event qualifies the winner to compete in the American Royal Barbeque in Kansas City in October 2012. The winner will compete against every other state champion across the country and abroad. The winner will be entered in the lottery drawing for the Jack Daniel's World Championship of 2012, held in Lynchburg, Tennessee to compete among other state champions as well as competitors from Germany, Australia, Canada, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, Great Britain and New Zealand.

Event Hours: Friday (10/14) 6 PM - 11 PM
Saturday 11 AM - 6 PM
Set up Times: Friday (10/14) 8 AM - 3 AM
Satudrday (10/15) 6 AM - 10 AM

We invite backyard grillers and barbque extraordinaires alike!
We offer four categories to be judged in the following order:
Chicken: Noon
Pork Ribs: 12:30 PM
Pork 1:00 PM
Beef Brisket: 1:30 PM
You must compete in all categories!

it seems I have have gotten into some family obligations that i agreed to somewhere along the line for that Saturday. Some family is here for a few weeks from overseas and our turn for having them over is that Saturday. I dont remember agreeing to that, but I am out numbered. I'm trying to switch it to this coming weekend. Otherwise, im screwed. Believe me, I'd rather be cooking!!

Bunny, we were asked to do a couple of Demo's, I got someone to donate a Chilegrill for this event. After Calling on Monday, Tues, and Wed. at least 5 times as well as one of my team mates we had gotton no response! Many things were said to me on the phone the Thursday before and nothing solidified which is troublesome and had a sponsor back out for a Demo. Its now Thurs, a week before we pack-up and I have tried to even Call the Downtown Park Assoc number and it just rings. I do not want to find out last minute that it is cancelled and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when we were doing this all for free, on our time and our money. I don't think a returned phone call was too much to ask.
