• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Wood and Pellet Question

slider2021

Full Fledged Farker
For those who use a pellet smoker as I do, do you use a specific brand based upon the type of meat you are smoking?

Are Lumberjack pellets and Bear Mountain pellets made by the same company?

Which is your go-to pellet brand?

My $0.02:

1. Depending on meat/veggie I do choose different pellets, but not different than what I’d choose for any other smoker/grill. Ex: Cherry or pecan for chicken; oak or pecan for beef; hickory, cherry or apple for pork.
2. Brands. I’ve had good luck with Cookin Pellets, LJ and BBQrs Delight.
3. Who makes/owns who - I have no idea

When I had a pellet smoker I just used Lumberjack oak for a lighter smoke profile and hickory for a stronger smoke profile and had great results .

I use different wood types but mainly hickory. I use whatever brand I can get locally such as Pitt Boss and Kingsford.
