I just had to straighten a lid last Saturday, It wasn't bad but enough to not fit well, I just did it by hand, and tapped it on a flat wood block,.. maybe I was lucky but it fits perfect now.

Carbon says it pretty good, the build up of residue over time will help alot. I had the same issue and resolved it by rolling the lid into shape, gently and letting lots of residue build up and not scrape it off.
