Here's a new idea from BOB the Rib-O-Lator guy. The 16 skewers take longer to load than to cook. (about 8 minutes) It's just a prototype but the food turned out great! :-D

It was also a great way to test out my new 4K video camera. :p

Was thinking of going in on the Carson Rodizio Kickstarter, but this definitely has my interest.
Though still a prototype, is he going to offer it for sale in the near future??

I talked to BOB and he says it is still a ways off. He is still working on finalizing the design and will probably launch a Kickstarter campaign of his own.

hmm interesting! I'm pretty sure those are Steve Reichlein skewers too. I already own 12 of them, so I guess I'm already halfway to getting this thing!

I picked up a similar thing off amazon a year ago...
Was it this one?

Is it any good? Looks like it has been discontinued but they still have a few in stock

Don't see how you can get good char marks on the meats and veggies using these, that's what I like on the kabob stuff.

Good point. I wonder there could be a way to set a delay in the motor to spin the kabobs every say .. 15, 30, 45, 60 seconds, to achieved desired char.

It's party time with the Char-O-Lator!

Oh, we got the char...

Edit: Hit the Full Screen button and kick the quality setting up to 2160P 4K and you will see plenty of char.

The problem with these set ups, and I had the one that Amazon is showing, is that the skewers are only cooked from one side, and I personally didn't care for the results. I get a better quality result by managing the skewers on the grill myself.

Funny you posted this, that's what I was noticing as I looked at the video. There is nice char, but seems to only be on one side. I think it would be more effective if the skewer was able to spin freely on each end. I'm sure that feature adds to production cost and probably design too.
They still looked good though!

I get what your saying and I have seen some expensive units that rotate each skewer individually. But crisping only one side tasted great to me. A total crowd pleaser
