Hoping everyone had a great day.

First Turkey on the BGE XL

Brined for 36 hrs, injected with butter, smoked with hickory and pecan for 6 hrs. A majority of the party said the best turkey they had ever eaten. So great.

When my family does Thanksgiving it usually lasts for 2-3 days. Here's what I done for today. The first picture was half way through the cook, the second picture is the finish product. No one in my town had any twine so I had to improvise ;) .

In progress.....(yes, we're having our Thanksgiving late).
20# bird. I rubbed herbed butter under, and on the skin. This was a "store bought" chick, so I didn't brine.

Notice the catch pan of yummy juices...there's onions and various other spices and herbs, as well as the neck bone in there.
