Yesterday, I asked the brethren to talk me out of a PK Grill Original - it didn't work. :decision: I resisted and had actually 99% made up my mind to not get it and let the urge to get something new go away. But, I still wanted to see one as I've never seen one in person. I found out the large Ace Hardware here in town actually sells the entire line, so I went down there today just strictly to take a look. I see the silver original PK and I must say, it's super ugly even brand new. I'd get the side-eye from my wife if that ended up in our backyard. It also sits pretty low as some others have noted. I see the little PKGO. It's pretty cool, but I don't need a that.

Then, I see a floor model of the PKTX. It's a beautiful red and I take a look. I immediately liked the height compared to the original. The cart is sturdy and has nice wheels. I look at the price tag and it's incorrectly priced at $349, but the description on the tag says red PK portable, so maybe they are closing it out? (The actual retail price on the PK website is $449). So I asked if I could buy the floor model. The clerk calls the manager to see if she can sell me the floor model and he starts asking her a bunch of questions. He eventually comes over and tells me there has been a mistake and the price is supposed to be $449. He apologizes and asks if I want to buy it at $449, he'd throw in some charcoal and a cover. I don't need either and I was about to pass, but then I asked if he would be able to discount it from $449 without giving me any extras. He then goes to get permission from the store manager and I ended up out the door at $429. As an added bonus, it matches my Red Box Smoker.

Right now, I'm liking the size (footprint) of the unit and that it folds up easily to transport. It's supposed to be 30-40mph winds here the next 2 days, so I won't be able to try it out until later this week. Here's some pics:

Well that was your first mistake. Asking anyone here to talk you OUT of buying something. Everyone here loves spending other people’s money. With that being said, PK is a great cooker. I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed at all.
