I just found a book at the used book store in town....thought it looked interesting. What Say you guys and gals?

I started reading it and the first part is how to cook on/near a fireplace with Dutch ovens, then with a wood burning stove. I haven't gotten into very many recipes, but the stories really hit home with me. These are my people. My lineage comes from the rural foothills of Virginia and West Virginia and some into Kentucky. Now that Im curious about genealogy and the hard times that my ancestors went through as subsistence farmers. I want to at least find out about some of these things. That this book just happens to be about food is a BONUS! :becky:

I think I might try to buy some of the Foxfire books as well. I have seen them at the local bookstore....but I may see if I can find them at the used bookstore. I remember my grandma having them, wonder what ever happened to those, probably long gone.
