We are often told by others to build a UDS. Have you taken the advice, cheated and bought one, or perhaps neither. Feel free to let us know.

Haven't built one, did not buy one, do not have one. But I see a LOT of them at comps and read a lot of good stuff, so they must work. I have a reverse flow offset and kettle myself. If I wanted to compete on a budget, I would certainly look at drums. Pellet smokers are also very popular, but I like a heavier smoke profile myself.

I have WSM so I never saw the need for UDS since both are similar style cooker.

I builded one of the first back in '06, I wasn't told to because nobody except the "inventor" was aware of them. He did all the research and trials and was selling them but foolishly put all build info online, oops!

I was gifted a 85% comlpete one from an old member on here "Q-Junkie" What a great guy. Havn't seen him here in quite a while.

I built my drum before joining the Brethren. Built my smokehouse before the drum. So it's been over 15 years ago.
Burn barrel cookin' has been around for awhile. Drill a few holes, insert racks and you're ready to cook!
