All the Franklin BBQ stuff says to use 16 mesh black pepper.
What exactly is 16 mesh pepper?
I have some Fiesta coarse ground black pepper but it doesn't say what mesh size it is.
Is 16 mesh somewhere in between fine and coarse ground?
 
Thanks but I don't need any sources.
From what I've read 16 mesh is simply sifted through some wire mesh that has 16 openings per inch.
With my overly technical mind does that mean I can measure the grind with a caliper and it s/b 1/6" on average?
