Smoke my first pork shoulder. Turned out great.

Used a modified version of Chris Lily's Rub
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
For the pork shoulder rub
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup ground raw sugar
1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup garlic salt
1/4 cup Lawrys seasoned salt
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano leaves
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Put on UDS for 11 hours at around 250 degrees.

11 hours later. Cooked to 190 degrees,

First attempted turned out perfect.

Awesome.
You are going to love that UDS. You can modify that to regulate temps by adding a heat diverter and a water pan above it (not on it). Your meat will cook more evenly with a lot more moisture.
Really great first cook and glad it came out tasty!

I used a cast iron skillet filled with rocks as a heat diffuser. It is sitting on another grate above the charcoal basket. Here is the picture of the pulled pork. Inside meat on the left. The good stuff on the left.
