Smokin-N-Style completed our first comp yesterday. It was organized by The BBQ Equipment Store in Hampstead MD. Although this was a wings and ribs contest, it was conducted under KCBS guidelines and scoring. The judges were mainly KCBS competitors with a couple of celebrities thrown in.

We made sure we represented the Brethren by flying our banner.

We ended up fourth in chicken with scores of 889 888 888 566 788 887.
Took third in ribs with scores of 788 788 899 879 789 888.

Ended up third overall.

Here's some pics. Please feel free to comment on boxes. I think they need a lot of work on appearance.

Looks pretty good, congrats on your call.

Since you asked for a critique: on the ribs, watch the cuts. The one on the left really stands out as not being cut quite straight and has some rough edges on it. If I had a rib with that edge, I would consider cutting the edge straight again. I spotted that in my first glance at the pic, and then on a second look I can see the other top ribs on top have the same issue. Use a very sharp knife or an electric knife for cutting ribs.

Those are some great results for sure! Congrats and be sure to post about all the other comps you'll be doing now. :thumb:

You forgot a picture!
