Here is my first attempt at bacon. It came out great! Holy cr@p, I made bacon!

This was so good, I have another 6.5 lbs to start curing.
 
What cure did you use and how did you smoke it? I'm dying to try this. Looks amazing man!

I used the Ruhlman recipe for the cure, recommended by a lot of people here http://ruhlman.com/2010/10/home-cured-bacon-2/. I smoked it low, around 160-170, for about 2 hours, then raised the heat up to around 200 until the meat hit 150. I think the total smoke time was 3 or 3 1/2 hours. I used apple wood. I only used a couple of chunks and the flavor was good but next time I will be shooting for a bit more smoke.

Definitely better than store bought!
