World Food Championship vs USA BBQ Championship

My biggest complaint about Ronnie and SOTW is they don't do anything here in the Northeast........( and since things get distorted on the net, please understand that was a joke)
still working on the courage to see if the wife would like to spend our anniversary in Laughlin this year! Sounds like another great Smoke On The Water event.

Or the Northwest...:D. Lot's of casinos up here Ronnie...hint...hint! see ya in Laughlin!

Atlantic City is still working on the date. June was their first choice but now they have a PBR event they would like us to partner with. We're still discussing options. More details to come soon.

Just wanted to pop in here real quick to clarify a couple things about WFC. While I'm sure intentions are all good, there's a bit of misinformation here about our event. Yes, we're excited about coming back to the Vegas Strip this year and looking forward to putting on another fun event with some new exciting opportunities as well. We made our official announcements on the dates last week, keep an eye out over the next 10 or so days for even more details about this year's competition. You can always find updates on worldfoodchampionships.com

Ron we'll reach out to you offline and clear up any confusion.

Ronnie I had two problems with Laughlin...first one was Quau...(they got GC) Second problem is the RGC trophies didnt fit too well in the mobile command center they were to big...... we had to have one stick out the window into the other lane....other than that we are good! hahahaha

Must suck to have those problems!

The USA Barbecue Championship is at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort November 1 - 2...<snip>

As far as the WFC goes, we do our homework. I personally spoke with the organizers and we both decided our dates do not conflict. In fact, the barbecue for WFC is over on Thursday. <snip>

It appears that the WFC official dates are scheduled Thurs Oct 31 - Sunday Nov 3, same as last year. Does that not still make a conflict between the two events.

While the schedule has not been posted, I can not see the entire bbq division starting Thursday and finishing Thursday but what the heck do I know. As a reference it was Thursday/Friday and Friday/Saturday last year with a winner announced Saturday evening.

I have cooked events under both organizers and BOTH do a top noch job.

Mike, You are correct on dates. I'm actually speaking with the WFC organizers now after it was brought to my attention. They are supposed to get clarification on actual dates and times for the barbecue competition today or tomorrow. I misunderstood our earlier conversations and in no way speak for the WFC. This issue will be worked out to benefit both organizations. Announcements to be coming soon.

Quote from Mike McCloud (MMA) on FB -
WFC has MOVED our championship dates by ONE WEEK. We are now going to kick off our 2013 event on Nov 6 and produce our Final Table on Nov 10th.

We believe this is a very important change for numerous reasons. First, our weekend will no longer coincide or conflict with the other big events in Terlingua, TX, or Laughlin, NV. We understand (and want to support) the fact that many teams want to participate in those great events as well as ours. So we have worked hard to make the necessary arrangements for our event to be moved by one week, and we hope our competitive friends will be supportive and happy about that development.

Ok so might as well do both if the opportunity arises, that makes the 2,000 mile trip a little more cost effective

Good job on co-operation between events.....

That was the announcement we were holding up on. Guess it's official now. We worked together with the WFC organizers in trying to find a solution that was best for everybody. They very generously offered to move their event date. Our goal now is to have all the WFC competitors come to the USA Barbecue Championship for the big money and 2014 Silverado Twin Cab Pickup and one last practice round before shuffling down to Vegas the next week. Let the flames begin.

Ya, but I am not sure they want to have the contest at a bowling alley or Chinese restaurant. :becky:

(Washington will give ANYONE a casino license...lol)

No, Chris, in the NorthWet, all the casinos are on reservations. All manner of special rules apply.

I lived in Seattle for year. There are (were?) about 150 casinos in WA, and about 20 are Native American. You can't turn around without hitting a casino. Eighteen in Seattle, 3 in tiny (pop 20,000) Mountlake Terrace, where I worked.

My examples sound fake, but they aren't. The Great Wall in Tacoma was a Chinese Restaurant that turned themselves into a restaurant with gaming tables. Paradise Bowl and Casino in Tacoma was a bowling ally with 10 different table games and live poker.

The Great Wall folded, and Paradise has gone back to only bowling, but WA was handing out licenses to everyone. They made gambling online a felony to protect all these small businesses. Many should never have been in the casino business, and eventually folded, but many still operate.
