Has anyone here having experience with the Weber Gourmet BBQ system grates?

I'm not sure if it is very useful, or another bunch of pieces to add to my collection of BBQ junk.

Or thoughts on an alternative?

Thank you for your thoughts.

I dont know about the top one I would think you could buy a griddle
I have a cast iron one like the second for my Large BGE and it is very nice

I think that it is novel item FOR AN OPTIONAL ACCESSORY! Unfortunately all the new Gold & above grills are coming with that grate: I aint no Gourmet and it is unappealing to me. I'm a BBQ Guy give me the traditional grate!!! :rant2:

I've used the Weber Gourmet BBQ system for two years now. It's well made, but inless you use the inserts a lot, it's awkward to clean for normal use. We cook few steaks, so the cast iron grill is handy when we do without dealing with an entire CI grate. The griddle works well, we don't have the wok. It was a gift, I never would have purchased it.

I have it and the wok, sear grate, and griddle attachment. I really like it and think it puts a wonderful sear on steaks. To each their own, but I think Weber quality is hard to beat.

Aww....sure ya are Dawg......Gourmets come in all shapes & sizes

You won't like the traditional grates here next time you get a new one......they are now really thin rod, even compared to a year or so ago......
The Gourmet grate, however, is EXTRA thick rod........

I don't have one, but the people I know who do tend to like them.....
They work reasonable for searing, the wok's a bit small......

I've seen people even use them with those Vortex cone things to good effect......

Long & short, good quality, think about how much you'll do small amounts of wokking / searing, etc. before going that direction......

If you're good at keeping care of cast iron (I'm not all that proficient) then the Craycort's are pretty hip.....people that have them really like them....
A little hard to work with as far as adding coals, but not bad, is the reports I've heard.....

Like SteveKing says, STOK is less expensive version of that type deal & may be a good pick also..............

Got a point about how much extra BBQ junk do ya need laying around.....
