Depending on your route, Dixiebones is on your way in Woodbridge.

There also is Pierce's a bit closer.

If you do get lost and find yourself in Richmond, I prefer Q BBQ to Buzz and Neds by a long shot.

There are a few places closer to VA Beach, but I've not been. Do a search within this subforum.

There are several I would NOT recommend...Jake's, Witners. There is a new place opening called Lulu's Smokehouse and grill, there is also Rib City but haven't been there, Wood Chicks (Lee Ann Whippen BBQ Pitmasters) wasn't bad. Norfolk has a very good smokehouse...Belmont House of Smoke-that's where we go when we want BBQ. Owner's name is Dave, tell him Theresa from Bellwood BBQ sent you.

I live about 2 miles from Wood Chicks BBQ in Chesapeake and i can say 100% it is not open for business any more. They are advertising for a retail advisor on their restaurant sign and have been closed for about a month now. Was just awarded best bbq in Hampton roads again to. No updates that i can find about it, phone is disconnected.
