I heat my house with wood and cook with wood on a shirley stick burner what I have found is you must split wood can't leave in rounds woods will rot inside out put under cover so no rain or snow will take about year to season. Wood will start cracking on end of log when dry enough to use. Wood with high sugar content MUST be split and stacked Apple, maple cherry ect otherwise out will have junk within couple months
