CRAP!!! Blossom End Rot on the tomatoes...

Hey...I find the most common cause of BER is inconsistent watering. I solve that by watering with a soaker hose that is on a timer. I started off every 3 days for 2 hours. Then the drought here went into full swing and I though they mite need more so I started watering every 2 days. After a couple of weeks of that the tomatoes started cracking which indicates over watering so I went back to every 3 days and they are doing just fine. Before I got the soaker hose in I was counting on rain and hand watering and had a bit of BER but now it's all good. Just my 2 cents.

Since the heat wave ended about a month ago. All is looking good for me. My peppers that were doing terribly have now popped like crazy. The habs were the only ones doing good before a month ago but now the anaheim, serranos, jalapenos and marconi all are producing well. Best year for tomatoes yet. High production. No blossom end rot only some catfacing. After the heat I have another flush of new fruit. First frost usually hits Nov 1 +/- a week so I still have time to finish off the new toms and peps.

Alright you green thumbs, what is this? I know it is some type of a squash, but what kind? It was growing when I moved in and found the beauty below this afternoon.

From my limited Google search, I am thinking maybe opo squash? Anyways, the squash I found this afternoon is 29" long. There were no other large squash on the vine, just a bunch of small ones and blossoms.

Anyone have a clue?
