Smoking With Red Maple

I know that sugar maple is good for smoking. My question is has anyone ever used red maple or japanese maple. Im about to cut down both and was going to season it if it can be used.

Yes the ornamental varieties can be used. I use the trimmings from my Japanese Maples every year.
