Hey Dad. Are you putting those coals in a Weber or ???? What is your ambient temperature? Mine was about 87 deg F when I put 20 briquettes in for my experiment. It did get as high as 310 deg F. I had the lower vents choked down about 2/3's..
Im doing some chicken breasts now. Put a sweet rub on them.. will make them a smokey sweet. lol. Suckulent chicken. .... Uhh oh.. I better go tend the smoke. You all have a good one.

ambient here in texas bout 95 or so. and yea in a weber 22 in kettle. had all vents wide open and ended up with about 60 bricks in there to get it about 260 lol
