Salt block press

Salt does hold heat very well, maybe you heat up the salt block and cook from both sides? Other than that I have no clue.
 
I have seen folks use foil wrapped bricks or cast iron pans to press down on meats to get a better sear, so maybe that is a use, and the salt would help season the meat?
 
Salt blocks are much more of a presentation point than flavor point.


If that's what you seek.......fine.
 
All my salt block has done for me is leach down to my concrete and mess up the finish... More trouble than it’s worth iyam...
 
How did the salt block leach down onto the concrete? During storage or did you have a problem with cooking?
 
Gimmick to me.
Our salt comes with a Use by Date, glad they found that million year old stuff in time
