Hmmm, you might have a point. From the videos i've seen of the meadow creek I don't think the grates stretch out more than the Shirley smoker, but i've never see one up close so I couldn't confirm that.
 
Having worked around engineers who designed and calculated blow pipe systems (industrial vacuum systems), yes the rounded end will be an advantage but you won't notice the difference if there's enough room to flow around the reverse flow plate.
 
I am so confused. So, I have the older round end Lang. Does that mean I should be removing the bark, or is bark removal only for the flat ended models? Also, if I am supposed to leave the bark on, what do I do with barkless splits? Do I need to find some bark to glue on?

Are you microwaving your briskets before or after you boil them on the pit?
