Questions on first Smoke ever!

Figured I would update.. I used it Sunday finally.. I got the fire going around noon and it did not take long to get to 250 and maintain that. I started with a Naked Fatty as recommended and after they were done threw on a Whole chicken and finished with Thighs for dinner. All I can say is I was very impressed and everything came out very good.. I cant wait to tackle pulled pork.

Looks great! I never understood why some fire their smoker up empty for the trial run. Your pictures are pretty good argument for not doing that!
 
I used the slap yo daddy rub on the chicken and it turned out great. I think I need to invest in a good wireless t-stat though.
