I didnt get it done in time to fire it up sunday but after much drilling and some cursing I finaly got it done.

I couldnt find my nice newer craftsman drill so I had to chose from one of my iffy antique units. The silver one did the job but got so hot in the proccess I could barely hold it.


Anyway Im looking forward to the next possible opportunity to get back into the world of coal fired bbq!
 
Next time use a hack saw and cut the handle on both sides of the nut, and the whole assembly will drop out. Replace with new ash sweep assembly. 15 minutes max!

Just sayin'.

Probably swearin' alot more now!
