I hope I am not overstepping my bounds, but I wanted to share something that is important to us in Murphysboro Illinois. Here we are very proud of our BBQ culture that includes Mike Mills at 17th Street BBQ and Pat Burke at Pat's BBQ. Both of these men are in the BBQ Hall of Fame. Cairo BBQ sauce if produces and bottled in Murphysboro, and our Annual BBQ Cookoff in September brings 100's of teams and 1000's of people to Murphysboro. For this reason I have created and successfully filed with the Illinois General Assembly, House Resolution 207. This would declare Murphysboro the BBQ Capitol of Illinois. If anyone here would like to comment on the idea, or sign the petition to help support the effort I would greatly appreciate it. The petition and the resolution are both linked below.

Wen't to 17th Street many times while my son was at SIU. I've got a copy of Mike's book, Peace Love and BBQ, really good stuff.

One year went to the cook off... skys darkened, storms (insert tornado) hit. There were BBQ tents all over downtown, but great Q!

Happy to sign the petition.

I was in Murhysboro last January taking Mike Mills whole hog class. You came by the banquet hall and welcomed everyone who came to the class to Murphysboro.
The hospitality of everyone in town was a class act. Mike and Amy Mills put on a great event and are good people. You have my vote(even though I'm in Toronto)!
