Down at the lake for spring break and spent today running some errands, catching some bait and some work even! Decided to smoke some spares with the M1. I haven’t used the M1 since I got my workhorse. It’s been down at the lake tucked away in the garage. It hasn’t seen sunlight in a year. I blew off the cobwebs and found him a home and lit a fire. I will say it was an effortless cook…cooking on the workhorse has taught me good fire management and it helped with the m1—she cruised at 290-300 until done.

Wow! Beautiful place you've got there. I'm afraid I'd have to live there all the time. Will be a nice retirement home.

What kind of fish are those? Should have thrown them on the M1 alongside the ribs. Smoked fish dip comes to mind.

Great ribs, great post. I'm jealous. Can I come live in your boat dock?

Thanks all! Those are hickory shad. This time of year they come up the river from the Atlantic Ocean to spawn. Line up on the bank and cast to them. I caught my limit of 10 in about 30 minutes and am Going back this morning for some more. Lot of fun on light tackle in the current. Freeze them whole and use them for cut bait for blue cats…helps when I can’t find Perch to catch for bait:). This is the end goal:)

Wow, everything here looks fantastic! I’ll be honest, an M1 36” was on the short list before the Workhorse..I definitely wish I had both!

Thanks! I used the m1 to see if I wanted to get back into stick burning and it did just that. It’s not quite the same as using the workhorse, but as long as you keep the splits small, it’s easy to run at 280-300 all day.

Both kids did some surfing with water temps of 57 and change. Too cold for me…I need another 10 degrees or so!

Went to catch some more bait this morning and lost several rigs, fell on my ass, but managed to catch my limit of 10 shad, and a bonus striper which was very fun on ultralight gear in the river. Let him go to get bigger
