You know what. If I get 5 candy chicken thighs and one that is top notch dry, tatsy, smokey and completly cooked your getting a good score from me.

I just posted this thread about the same question, and the consensus was about the same - sauce, sauce, sauce.

for they most part judges like sauce...........send in boxes with no sauce and see what happens, I dare ya :-D

So at least for me, I'm working on a sauce. (Tried one yesterday, didn't work. Too dark, too thick, too much molasses. So we're doing it again today.)
 
If you believe strongly enough, try it. I did something this weekend i've NEVER seen in a contest and I was rewarded. Tried something 2 weeks ago and was punished. Do you "own a pair", or do you want to do what everbody else does......:wink:.
