KCBS is coming to the Texas Gulf Coast

For what it's worth, the following cookoffs are scheduled for the same weekend:
KCBS - Shawnee, OK 371 miles away and will draw most of the OK crowd
IBCA - Ennis, TX 137 miles and just south of Dallas
Wills Point, TX 172 miles and just east of Dallas
Bossier City, LA 191 miles
Corpus Christi, TX 276 miles and will draw from Houston and south
Geronimo, TX 185 miles and will draw from Houston and west

Did not see any Lone Star or Texas Gulf Coast scheduled for that weekend yet.

There's a potential for the Sam's Club events to conflict as well.

And there's probably going to be about 20 others too. It's Texas, there's comps every week. We are about 70 miles north of Houston which is a lot closer than Corpus or Geronimo. Every comp in Texas, every week is competing with many other comps, I'm hoping that with this one being a state qualifier it will draw plenty of teams.

What's hilarious is, I've yet to go to an IBCA / Texas contest and see someone with just a box of kosher salt and coarse ground black pepper for their meats.

Big State, lots of comps so, no. Which is why i said "have yet".

But if its good brisket it will do fine no matter what sanctioning body.

Those that don't like the way KCBS plays don't have to participate. But I've yet to see them hold an event here where no one showed up.
