Jack Draw this Friday

How does Canada work? Do they draw for every Providence or do they get one draw as an International team?
 
In Canada we have 2 automatics this year:
1) Whistler, which has always been an automatic because it's billed as the Canadian National BBQ Championships. It's the largest comp in Canada. So even though my team is International, it's still an automatic.
2) Ontario has a series of BBQ competitions, the kind folks at JD's extended an invitation this year to the winner of that series, which turned out to be the Black Pig Competition Barbeque Team.

In 2009 the rules were switched up a bit and we were granted the same rules as US states for further invitations - that is, G.C.'s from qualifying events (25 teams, or 15 for 1st year events) go into a draw for each province. What makes this a bit tricky is that there are not very many qualifiers since we just don't have the same number of teams up here. I think B.C. has two other events (BBQ on the Bypass & Cdn Festival of BBQ & Chili). Both of these were won by US teams and they get a bung for their home states. Saskatoon, as a first year event, was a qualifier. Morden (this past weekend) as a first year KCBS event, was also a 15-team qualifier. BBQ on the Bow (Calgary) is the other big event out here - last year they only hit 23 teams but this year it sounds like they will clear 25.

Hambones is in for WV not VA. Only 1 WV qualifier.

PA is not locked. Big Ugly, WATG and perhaps others are in for PA too.

My bad, I thought PA Midnight Smokers got it because they were the only PA team to win in their home state. I think. :roll:

So if you all get pulled for VA, does that mean Chix, Swine gets the MD State, home team pull? (I think you two are the only MD teams, to win in MD) Just trying to figure out our chances and all the scenerios.....

Let's see someone figure out Missouri and Kansas! LOL!

Would be nice if someone attending the draw would text the drawn teams to someone who would post them... anywhere.

Lots of teams one might expect to make it every year, don't. If you don't get the automatic, you have to be lucky as well as good. It's one of the things that makes the Jack unique and special.

Cooking KCBS, FBA, and MBN I wouldn't be surprised if Myron had 7 wins or got pulled in the draw.
