I did some buckboard bacon at 185 (but it was cured) would not even consider doing a regular butt below 200...
 
From what I've read on Pellet smokers they put out more smoke at lower temps (180) and nearly none at higher temps (275+) so people will a lot of smoke early then cook it with a little smoke.
It's night and day comparing pellet smokers to traditional wood smokers/cookers. They have to work a lot harder to get good smoke in the product.
