Hey All,

So the app I'm writing, BBQ Score Guru, figures final meat scores and overall scores for your comps given the scoring numbers from the individual judges.

That's great when I know the weightings to use, but I'm a little fuzzy on when those have changed over the last few years. Here's all I have:

2014 and 2015
Appearance: 0.56
Taste: 2.2972
Tenderness: 1.1428

2013
Appearance: 0.5714
Taste: 2.2858
Tenderness: 1.1428

I'm trying to figure out 1) Exactly when these weightings took effect, and 2) what the weightings were before 2013 and before that, etc.

For example, I saw one place on kcbs.us where it said the weights would be effective on January 1st, but another place where it said weights would be effective when KCBScore came out.

I'm thoroughly confused. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bret

In 2014, the year started with the old weightings and then changed when KCBS Score was introduced. There may have been some trials earlier, but I think our first contest to use it was mid-July 2014 and I THINK it was across the board at that time. I'm pretty sure that 2012 used the 2013 weights and that was probably in effect for quite a few years prior, but we didn't compete back then.

I found the press release on KCBScore. It went into effect the weekend of July 13th, 2013. So here's what I'll use unless and until I find out more information.

Event Date is 7/11/13 or Before
Appearance: 0.5714
Taste: 2.2858
Tenderness: 1.1428

Event Date is 7/12/13 or After
Appearance: 0.56
Taste: 2.2972
Tenderness: 1.1428

Thanks,
Bret
