As a Navy Brat in Yokuska and Yokohoma in the early 70's you couldn't get me to eat Japanese food. Now, I wish I'd paid more attention.

Surprisingly, many things that have Japanese heritage come to America and are improved to stupendous levels after just a generation or two.
