Our family is going to try a pierogi cook off this Christmas. So this weekend we did a dry run of our creation.

A pierogi stuffed with mashed potatoes, stuffing and roast turkey. Topped with cranberry sauce and gravy. All I can say is holy crap was this ever good.

For a test I made 3 fairly large pierogi's.

These went into the freezer to be cooked later. But for our sample, I made a massive pierogi with all the left over ingredients.

Boiling a pierogi this large seemed rather daunting, so I decided to cook them like you do potstickers. Add oil and water to the pan and add the uncooked pierogi. The dough steams and cooks while the water evaporates, then the oil allows the pierogi to crisp up once the water is all absorbed.

Cut in half, topped with cranberry sauce and gravy and dinner was served.
