We went shopping earlier today and saw that fresh butterball turkeys were 50% off. They were selling the leftover turkeys from Christmas that expire tomorrow.
We weren’t planning to have turkey today because we are still eating the prime rib from yesterday.
We did a garlic herb butter rubbed under and over the skin, tied it and put it on the kettle.
This is the second turkey I did using the Meater + and it really shines on the rotisserie! This was a really easy cook and all I had to do is throw additional coals on every half hour while sitting back and enjoying some Italian wine.
The ambient temp was 50°f so I started with 30 lit coals per basket with all vents wide open and added about 10 coals to each basket every half hour. The vents were wide open the entire time.
The Meater app told me when to pull the bird and when to carve the bird.
