First chops on the grill grates

Okay, that baby should get above 400 degrees.

Something's not working correctly.

my thoughts exactly. I gotta figure out whats wrong.

here is a 3d model of the backside of it. Notice the large opening along the whole back side? that allows a bunch of the hot air to escape. it also escapes out the rotiss holder

thanks

matt

EDIT

just saw this in the online manual

Since 1995, all regulators (the part that attaches to the gas
tank to regulate the flow of gas) have included a safety feature
that restricts gas flow in the event of a gas leak. You can
inadvertently activate this safety feature without having a gas
leak. This typically occurs when you turn on the gas using the
grill control knob before you turn on the LP tank valve. If the gas
regulator safety feature activates, the grill will only reach
temperatures between 250°F and 300°F even with all burners on
the high setting.

That gap is not your problem. More likely a regulator issue.

ah poo! i was hoping you wouldnt say that! haha

Anyway to test a regulator?

tahnks

@ john

Yeah no prob. I think they were a good investment. Something new to toy with and have fun. Controls flare ups really well to.

Might be the lack of airflow in your room...:heh: And I'm not gonna even touch on the fire hazard issue. :tsk:

....

Hope you get it sorted out brother!
Cheers

I need to buy a oven thermo to place inside and see what the grate temp is

I've been seeing some big differences in temps at the grill grate and my lid temp on my OTP. Here's an example from a chicken cook I did earlier this week:

@ the lid

@ the grill grates

and I find that you don't really need to get the temps all that high to get nice grill marks with these grill grates. Here's the boneless/skinless chicken breasts that I cooked at the temp in the pic above.

Nice job on your chops LT! Hope you get your grill temp straightened out.
