Contest Results DO AC Smokin' Hot Atlantic City BBQ comp

I went down to the event on Sunday and got to see all you guys cookers and damn was i jealous. I am hoping next year to throw my hat into the ring on some of the smaller events and work up to something like this. But with that said I am an AC regular and to be honest you dont get a whole lot of foot traffic off the boardwalk. Even where there event was most people dont walk down there as parts of AC are well how shall i put it.. umm Shady. I know they have alot of events over at Bader field and its not as close to the casinos the closest one is Trop and thats a 1 mile walk to the event. What it does offer though is ever car that comes into the AC via the expressway is going to see the glorious rise of the smoke from all those cookers so thats with a few well placed signs i think it could be huge there. Then between the Jitney running people over that way along with a maximum cost of a taxi is $13 per trip i think Bader field would work. Not to mention you will have some grass so you may be able to actually pop up a small tent to sleep in at your sites for those of you who like that thing called sleep. Well thats just my .02 on it, but great job guys and those of you who i got to talk to thank you for being nice and just giving me some good information to possible get my start next year.

I like the one comp. just my 2 cents.

While I think it is good to talk about now I would be cautious in my thinking and projecting. Smoke on the Water relies on sponsorship money to cover prize money (it seems). Increasing prize money by $50 grand a year at a same site same weekend event is unprecedented and a helluva goal. I know if it will happen Mr. Cates will be the one to deliver.

I am debating over the question. I like the idea of 2 chances to win money with back to backs but I think I prefer the sat/sun and have fri/sat to party with friends and enjoy AC. I can't imagine the casinos would go for 2 comps keeping people onsite all weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed having Showboat across the street. Will this remain first come first in or will previous teams get priority? anybody know

I would hope we would get Priority!

And Ronnie did say next year the People's Choice Pork will require an entrance fee to participate.

funny about peoples choice. I don't remember seeing anything on the app and they didnt get our emails out til day before cause of a mixup. there was no fee?

I asked about priority booking for next year and was told that those who competed and judged year one will get advanced notice of the web site being up for registration.

Agreed. They almost have to keep it close so that the hotels and casinos get traffic from the public. If they rearrange that lot a little they can accommodate 100 teams.

...and because more than a couple of blocks from the hotel, it's kind of dangerous

I don't remember if it was on facebook or an e-mail from SOTW that they were accepting the first 25 that wanted in peoples choice. I think it filled up in a couple hours.
