.....great on firebox. One of the first pro tips given with my first offset (OG New Braunfels Black Diamond) was how to keep the thinner metal firebox looking nice and not a jagged tooth cavity of rust. Before each use I wash the exterior of drought and feedlot dirt. It dries while coming to temp and I spray cheap cooking spray on the FB- hinges- doors'-vents etc and wipe it down. Then after the cook same thing. Up close it doesn't look bad at all and from a few yards away it looks great.

My Oklahoma Joe Highland is not the nice heavier, metal welded, awesome cookers that a professional fabrication business creates.

I have to try harder to keep my COS looking nice. Anyway, cheap cooking spray oil--wax on wax off--similar to cast iron.

***Important***
Don't spray oil on firebox while really hot or it will flash fire.
