Ordered the Cajun Bandit 22.5" Weber Kettle Conversion kit with the stainless steel door. http://www.cajunbandit.com/
Showed up on the doorstep, well packed, and it took a few minutes to drill 3 holes for the legs and another for the lid thermometer. I used a One-Touch Silver with 2 handles in the bowl.
I wanted to be able to use the Weber Rotisserie ring and the Cajun Bandit conversion allows that, unlike the 22.5" WSM (unless you use a kettle lid)
Used a new WSM thermometer and bezel I got from a guy that had a Pop Up Squirrel knock his lid off a 3rd floor balcony!
****FIRST COOK*****
Char-Broil rotisserie basket with marinated Plowboy Wings and Shakin' the Tree Thighs.
Kingsford Comp briqs with Orange wood for smoke, using the charcoal ring from an 18" WSM.
****Jerk Marinated Thigh trimmings, skewered and dusted with Jamaican Firewalk!****
****Chicken Legs with Shakin' the Tree under the skin, then dusted with Tsunami Spin on the outside****
Finger lickin' finger food!!
I did this direct w/o the waterpan and the temps were @380-400* the whole time. The One-Touch vents were open at first firing then closed almost the entire cook. I used too many briqs, and the K-Comp burns hot hot! But that learned, it was a fun cook and the chicken turned out great!
***FIRST IMPRESSIONS****
At first glance, I wasn't thrilled that the Cajun Bandit handles, grate holders and door hinge are pop riveted instead of bolted, but it is solid, the door doesn't leak, the legs are strong and sturdy and the one piece cylinder is rolled and fits the kettle securely. I will need to order a lower grate from Weber.
Anyone else got one??
