I just wanted to share with you all about the comp I participated in this weekend. Brethren Sam Appleton posted about a backyard comp in Butler, Al. that had a pretty nice prize purse and that interested me enough to enter. I was questioning my 5 hour drive once I got there, but I can't begin to express my appreciation for how welcome everyone there made my daughter and I feel.
It was a trying morning because my tent was a victim of the storms that blew through Friday night, but I was determined to give it my best shot. Out of a total of 20 teams, we had a 6th place chicken and 3rd place ribs, and that led to an overall Reserve Champion. Maybe that trip wasn't so long after all.
